I recently bought an S-video cable, an RCA video cable, and an S-video to video converter so that I could play videos from my computer on my TV. I hooked it up while at home over winter break and everything worked fine. Now that I'm back, I hooked everything up and I'm not getting any response at all. The first time I didn't have my monitor hooked up, did that have anything to do with it? Is there some sort of setting I need to set? Thanks.
Laptop or desktop? Usually there's a video display setting that will allow one to select which outputs are active.
It's a desktop. Does that explain why it worked before and not now? Hope so. Thanks.
Are you using the S-video out on a video card?
If so then you probably need to set your video in the video control panel.
Most video cards will default to what is actually connected so if you had the TV connected but no SVGA monitor it probably found it on its own. With the monitor connected you need to set up the controls to mirror your desktop or use it as an extended screen.
I just tried shutting down the computer, checking the connection to the TV, and rebooting, but it still didn't work. Yes, the s-video is on the video card; it's an NVidia GeFroce 6600GT. I went to the display settings but it didn't show anything about dual monitorring, but I remember seeing it before.
Did you go to the video card display settings instead of the windows ones?
