So, do you think women will pay for prostitutes the way that men do?

They already do. They just don't do it as openly as men.

We, in Paris, have such cafés, but that's not overtly done...

I don't think they'd do it as openly as men do. It would have to be a service that operates much more discretely.

I used to hear about things like this years ago. Mostly it was older women paying for younger guys.

In the 'relevant adverts' in our local (free) weekend paper, three males are advertising their sex services for females (vs. about two for gay men and 12 for males). That's in a rural town with less than 70,000 quite conservative inhabitants.

growing up in hamburg, i remember that there were "certain" bars/restaurants where it was not uncommon for women to go to find a "suitable" male. the custom was for the "lady" to send a drink to a man . the waiter would tell the man - with a wink - from which direction the drink came . it would be up to the two parties to establish contact if interested.
in other bars there were telephones on every table - with a sign indicating the table number - so parties could phone each other to make "arrangements" .
there was also the famous "cafe keese' - on the reeperbahn - where the ladies would ask the men for a dance . i recall that one day a week, the men were allowed to ask the ladies for a dance - but on all other days is was strictly "verboten" for the men to ask the ladies for a dance.
that's all a loooong time ago ! hbg

Male prostitutes targeting women - and there being a rapidly expanding market for it of women with busy schedules and ample purchasing power - was a big big story in Holland a few years ago - one "cucumber season" (slow news season), every magazine or newspaper "life" section had a story about it.

It was quite interesting, really ... new, specialised, women-run escort agencies seemed to be doing well, while already established agencies had a hard time switching to this new market's standards.

One anecdote I still remember is a "trad" agency manager's surprise expressed at how it all just worked differently ... "with men", he or she said, "they would call in for a blonde, or for a tall, slim woman, but if we didnt have one available, they'd always simply take whoever we did send, anyway. But these women - they will just send the guy back if he doesnt fit her descriptions!"

That made me LOL, for some reason. Also remember a woman reporter doing "field research" and ordering some over, and being very mixed/critical about the offerings - mostly men who also catered for the gay crowd, which led to some unpleasantries - the guy who shaved his chest hair, for example, and had unpleasant stubble.

The guys in turn had stories to tell, also much focusing on the female customer's demandingness; "you cant fake it either", one said, "I've had a woman check the condom to see if I really did come. Something to do with her self-esteem, I think ... she needed to confirm to herself that she could still make a man come, or something".

Women customers would also more often go for a whole package deal - not pay just a few bucks for the sex alone, but pay much more for company for the whole evening, someone they could take to a party, to dinner, and then also at the end for the night.

Quoting all from memory, of course ... I found it very int'restin. Sign o the times.

From the article:

Quote:
Researchers and groups that study or work with prostitutes say that American women already do pay under certain circumstances. Women as well as men can be "sex tourists," for example. While on vacation in spots like Jamaica or the Dominican Republic, women pay for sex and the companionship of usually younger men.

Triple yep; the Thailand- and Cuba-headed flights filled with solo men have long been matched by holiday package flights to, say, Senegal or Kenya (I forgot exactly which is the standard destination), where most all passengers are single women. Much written about that in the chatty sections of the paper, too.

Of course, they usually dont have to pay there, either.

The weirdest version I've heard of that was the article in East-European glossy B East about the "sex trips" Croatian girls nowadays take to the Serbian capital Belgrade, where men are still real men. Seems odd, just ten years after the massacres, but I asked my Croatian friend, and she said she'd heard of it too.

I have had a few friends who were male prostitutes.

Mainly they catered to men, but one worked in a brothel which catered to both.

It would depend on the orientation of the man involved, I would imagine, and the number of female customers wanting the service.

I have noticed that, in hotel information brochures, there is often one place obviously catering for women.

I have not run across a lesbian prostitute as yet, in my travels.

Heidi Fleiss herself (at least in the movie version) said something like this (which made me chuckle).

"These men aren't paying for us to have sex with them, they can have sex anytime they want...

The are paying for us to leave afterwards"

I suspect that if a woman wants a one-night stand with no attachment, there would be 100 men who would offer it for free (or less).

I don't see this as a business idea (other than for the novelty).

Dunno about that. I mean, apart from the fact that male prostitution for women clientele already is a proven business venture, if not quite yet in the form Fleiss wants to try now.

See, many women will at first say, like Gina Pinon in the story, that they would never pay for sex "because I could go out and get it for free." But the catch there is that, especially if you get older, you may no longer be able to have sex with whoever you want for free. And thats the broader motivation driving a budding demand for these services, I think, and not just (or even not so much) because no-longer-super-pretty older women, gotten used to getting only the best in life as top-earning professionals, might want a hot young stud. Its more about what Patti Britton says in the story:

Quote:
A regulated business that does criminal and medical screening of its workers would find a market in women, said Patti Britton, the president-elect of the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists. The clients would be women who are adverse to hiring escorts or to seeking men in bars because of the risk of violence and disease. "The cultural expectation," Ms. Britton said, "is that any woman can have sex any time she wants it. All she has to do is show up in a public place. But many women are shy socially. And when it comes to sex, women feel more vulnerable and at risk than men."

Sure every reasonably pretty woman can get sex for free in a bar. But at what risk? The violence of a date-turned-creep, disease? You pay for a service of a legal, supervised institution ... no risk no hassle.

I dont know if women , in general, WOULD play party to the cash and carry sex.

Personally , as eoe said, an escort "full" service would probally go over better with ME ..

safer, simpler, and there is the chance of some kind of connection no matter how fleeting. And that makes the experience ... not just the sex.

Hmmmm....the interesting thing is that it seems lots of young men DO want to have sex with an older woman, Nimh.

At least, I find that, and I am no orphan in that regard.

Life is odd.

Checking condoms?

That seems very intrusive to me.

Sheesh...whether he comes or not is surely the fella's business?
