I had attempted to install a driver for my cell phone data cable(wrong cable turns out) but since then I've noticed 2 things. First is another CD drive in "My Computer" that doesn't exist and can't be accessed. Second and to me more worrisome is a small icon in the system tray (where the clock is)that when you place the cursor over it shows "Remote Controller". The only option available when clicked is "Exit". Anybody have any clues???

Without more to go on, I'm gonna guess its related to that cellphone stuff. I'd say try to uninstall it and see what happens.
