That will teach them for being so permissive during the 1970s....

Quote:
'The Aunty Jack Show' burst onto Australian television screens in the nineteen seventies. There had never been anything like Aunty Jack. Grahame Bond's outrageous character, the bikie and self proclaimed "Queen of Wollongong", was the antithesis of television presenting. A moustachioed hostess who threatened to jump out of viewer's television sets and rip their bloody arms off.

Aunty Jack and her cast of characters, Thin Arthur, Narrator Neville and Flange Desire brought a new sense of humour to our screens - irreverent, bizarre, full of original music (a rarity for a comedy series) and uniquely Australian.

If you can even REMEMBER this nuttiness, it is time to retire to the nearest nursing home AT ONCE!!

Or I'll rip your bloody arms off!!

There is so much junk repeated ad nauseum on television I often wonder why treasures such as Aunty Jack have been locked away, never to be seen again.

A lot of it would be very dated - but surely today's generation could stretch their brains just a little - or even ask Mum and Dad if they come across anything too obscure.

And a pretty complex guy too.

I always crack up when I see the interview he did with the actress who played Archie Bunker's daughter in All In The Family.

She suddenly gets fascinated with his toilet paper bandages and says, "You're bleeding."
NG "I cut myself shaving"
Her "You should use and electric razor"
NG "I do"

She just gets hysterical and the rest of the interview is her giggling insanely.

So THAT'S who that actress was.

You often see the interview, or parts of it, but I have never had a clue who the American woman was!!!!

Not to mention his brilliant interview of Paul and Linda McCartney - when he suddenly interrupted her and said "You don't look very Japanese."

Just got my own copy of The Gunston Tapes. (ABC)

What a man! (My hero! <swoon>)

What ripper little media super star he was!

I Who Have Nothing has never been performed so movingly, since!

I still can't believe he actually did all that stuff!
