IS MICROSOFT LOSING ITS GRIP TO LINUX'S OPEN SOURCE?

The last time I approached this subject, the postings were solidly behind microsoft, mostly, because they were in place and dominated the market.
During the past six to 12 months, I now read things like, HP AND LINUX TO WORK TOGETHER or IBM TO MOVE TOWARDS OPEN SOURCE WITH LINUX. Well....is it happening? Is there a measurable shift towards open source? Please bring me up-to-date re information and links.

MAPLELEAF, you are absolutely correct. Linux is and will make
great impact on the industry for the reaons you have explained.

And here is a bit of red hot news to prove it:

"Bill Gates has been to China (2 billion prospective computer users)
and has offered the Chinese government Microsoft's full CODE for the Windows platform. This means all the secrets. That's how bad Microsoft wants to be top in China's future computer world."

However Linux is about to enter the orient and it will be exciting to see what happens in the next short while.
