Good luck, osso, in your trek to NM. I don't quite follow what your schedule and route will be, but I will be fretting about you until we hear you have made it safely.
(True story) When johnboy was barely 17, he drove a little old lady from Virginia to Minnesota. Four days. Partially because she could only handle so many hours a day in the car; and she had friends in various places she wanted to visit. Johnboy dreaded the idea of doing this; she was five times my age. But we laughed the whole time we were on the road together.
Any chance you could get a driver?
I am remember, littleK, it would be fun for you to visit sometime...
Roger, I didn't mean to not answer, I got carried away on another drift.. Yes, I'll be checking for the most exotic lunch place I can find....
I actually (famous lost words) look forward to the contemplation involved in the drive, Johnboy - much of highway 101 is so beautiful. Plus there'll be no room in the car for another person. I'm a pretty fast driver when I'm not shut down by darkness.
This'll show highway 101. I got nowhere trying to find an image of highway 10 across the southwest, but part of it is on this map too, turning south at Phoenix.
Highway 101?
Quote:He wore black denim trousers and motorcycle boots
And a black leather jacket with an eagle on the back
He had a hopped-up 'cicle that took off like a gun
That fool was the terror of Highway 101
Well, he never washed his face and he never combed his hair
He had axle grease imbedded underneath his fingernails
On the muscle of his arm was a red tattoo
A picture of a heart saying, "Mother, I love you"
He had a pretty girlfriend by the name of Mary Lou
But he treated her just like he treated all the rest
And everybody pitied her and everybody knew
He loved that doggone motorcycle best
He wore black denim trousers and motorcycle boots
And a black leather jacket with an eagle on the back
He had a hopped-up 'cicle that took off like a gun
That fool was the terror of Highway 101
Mary Lou, poor girl, she pleaded and she begged him not to leave
She said, "I've got a feeling if you ride tonight I'll grieve"
But her tears were shed in vain and her every word was lost
In the rumble of an engine and the smoke from his exhaust
He took off like the Devil; there was fire in his eyes
He said "I'll go a thousand miles before the sun can rise."
But he hit a screamin' diesel that was California-bound
And when they cleared the wreckage, all they found
Was his black denim trousers and motorcycle boots
And a black leather jacket with an eagle on the back
But they couldn't find the 'cicle that took off like a gun
And they never found the terror of Highway 101
The past may be ahead of you.
The guest room is waiting patiently for you. Fresh sheets and plenty of wine. Does pacco have his own bed or would he like a blanket to curl up on?
We are getting excited to see you again, plus already worrying about that drive at a very iffy time of year--but Rt. 10 from Tucson up to ABQ shouldn't be a problem--seldom any real snow.
I might even make a Buche de Noel for Christmas. Sorry, no cookies as I tend to eat them before they can be given as gifts. Miss Piggy, that's me.
Oh, I just finished a wonderful book called Riding the Iron Rooster. It will be waiting for you in the guest room.
You really are a gutsy woman. I can hardly wait for you to get here.
This is exciting you take good care of her Diane, which I know you will.
Osso
Osso, do you have a departure date yet?
BBB
The 21st, knock on wood.
I won't make it by xmas day but I'm not trying to.
Diane, you are lovely to do that..
Pacco has his crate and his sheepskin cushion...
Husker, thanks.
Noddy, just think of me as Leader of the Pacc.
Leader of Pacco? What does the Alpha Male say about that scheme of things?
He abides by my wishes occasionally.
All the very best, osso - might well be, we'll meet in Duke City.
Most surely it will happen, I think
Im all ' a twitter too
and im not the one moving.
I hope your trip goes just as planned and you have fun on your drive.
I will be going back and forth to NM here soon, so one of these here days, Ill come knocking on your door , with Bean in tow to say hi. :-)
Shewolf, I love to meet you and Bean!

near there. Well, not soon though.
Buon fortuna, Osso. I'll be thinking about you while you're on the road. Have a safe trip. Say hi to Diane and Dys and Fred and Sally for me.
And good luck finding the perfect place to live in NM. Something with enough space on the inside and a garden on the outside.
Be well, mi amica.
