Well, it probably acts on hyaluronic acid, which is what is swirling around in the "juice" around canned beans (I think, it's been a while since I learned about it), and is also produced when beans are cooked. I think some folks get used to it, but I always rinse my soaked beans well, and tend to rinse the cooked ones too.
I've had friends add a little baking soda to the cooking water. Never tried that...

She says
here that she was to leave tomorrow. Yesterday she was busy packing and shipping books, and she hasn't posted today. Hopefully, she's on schedule.
Bon voyage, dear osso!
Osso,
Wishing you a safe and enjoyable journey, dear friend.
Osso, happy trails to you!

Osso is supposed to leave today, 12/21. I just heard from Diane that when she returned from Denver yesterday, she found Dyslexia had a bad cold and now Diane has it too.
Hope they are well by the time Osso reaches their home.

Let's keep our thoughts on Osso while she's trucking along.
Diane and Dys, CHICKEN SOUP. When Osso arrives, put her up in a motel. Either that or when you recover you'll have to nurse her (if she gets it from you).

If Dys and Diane are still sick when Osso arrives, she can stay in my guest room. It will be interesting to see if Pacco and my Dolly and Madison will get along.

Hasn't had his hair cut recently, has he?
Good idea, BBB.
Lord E, by "recently" you mean years, right?
Oooh, I'm going to be fretting until we hear from her. Take care, Osso! (And take care of Osso, Pacco!)
Er, not that Osso isn't eminently able to take care of herself. She's tough.
Still, I'll fret at a low level until she drops a line...
I am also quietly worrying about Osso. Let's hope the weather is good, the car works OK and the music/chat on the radio is stimulating.
This place is now an extended family to me, in a weird sort of way.
For me too, m'Lord. But you and I know that there's nothing wierd about it. It's SO natural and authentic. We have the privilege of knowing other people's MINDS before we meet the rest of them. I've met Osso, Dyslexia and Diane, and while I was very attracted to their minds, "the rest of them" only added to the attraction. Indeed, their minds biased me in favor of "the rest of them".
Besides a couple of others, I've met Diane and dys as well.
I don't say anything about their attraction openly - might get shot by dys twice otherwise
Hi, everybody! The QualityInn in Petaluma has free internet access in the lobby..
Rain followed me from Eureka... lots of squalls with drizzle in between. Luckily the traffic isn't heavy through the forest. Scary when a logging truck trucks on past fast though. (Try to say that 3x...)
I'm exhausted and takng my sweet time. Dys and
Diane will be all better when I get there..
Got a later start than I wanted, good byes, y'know.
Stopped at three to be sure to get place that takes a dog, and it took a bit to find it. I didn't feel like tackling San Francisco at rush hour at this end of the day. Glad I stopped.
Hmm, Baked Wheat Thins, parmigiano, Southern Comfort on ice. Maybe a hot bath.... I ache from yesterday, high stresso day; movers were sweethearts though.
Don't know when I can check in again. Will call D & D if I land in a place sans computer. Know I won't make it to Lah Lah tomorrow, don't expect to.
Keep on taking your sweet time, ossoB.
Glad to hear that you've landed safely at step 1 of the next stage of the greatest adventure of all.
Ooh, that was much quicker than I expected! Thanks!
Sounds like a good if exhausting beginning.
