I was just invovled in an accident, and I was wondering if anybody knows the answer -
if my car is legally parked and some guy hits it, can i be held accountable in any way just because my car was there?
what if i was stopped at a stop light, and somebody rear-ends me? can i be held accountable just because i was there?
should i be? comments please...
Ive always been told the person responsible for things like that are the person behind, that went into you.
If your car was legally parked/stationary, how can it be your fault?
Thats like saying its a witnesses fault for not running into the road and not preventing the accident, just because they were there and could see what may happen.

Probably not, but it's best to contact an attorney re such things. You can also contact your insurance company and ask them.
actually, its not like the witness scenerio at all...i think that insurance wise you can be held minimally responsible because without you being there, the accident would not have taken place...obvious but true...this is not the case for a witness becuase if there were no witnesses at all, the crime would have still occured...i was a necessary part of the accident...comments?
