We have been talking here on a2k for a couple of years now and are still having questions asking for the definition of god. I read the latest one, and saw the word ilk. I see that a lot.

Dagnabbit, I just cleaned out my photo file, and tossed my photo of roosevelt elk at Orick, CA. So this one is from wildlands.org -
and I named him the Ilk God..

I suppose if he were charging toward you, the word god might be called to mind. Laughing

OH, and sorry if I brought up an old question. I'm just an ignorant yokel from New Jersey.

I'm not complaining exactly. Something new always seems to come up, and new people join in, and I'm not sure there was a thread by that exact title anyway.

I'm one of the people who's not all that interested personally, though I like reading what other people have to say most of the time, partly to get to know people posting here.

I was just tossing my hat on the elk rack...

A fine hat and a fine elk.

Katisha, even under the misbegotten rule of The Mikado, isn't politically correct, but there's something to be said for finding beauty in the bellow of the the blast and grandure in the growling of the gale.

Gaia is a concept that encompasses magnificence.

Osso, just what I would expect of someone of your ilk. Or you going to bring your elk photos to Albuquerque?

How do you get an elk to stay still in your scanner long enough to get a picture?

I don't know what a wapiti is, but I'll cheerfully admit it doesn't look at all like MY elk, the ones at Orick. It was on google and dramatic. But the labels on google image photos are often off..

ok, ok, all the same - mine looked like this roosevelt elk, and now I think the google image label was just fine... all wapitis..

Shocked

I'm surprised we're not tripping over shed antlers.

well, maybe it's importent to them what they are called, I don't really know. Personally I wouldn't like being called an ilk if I was a Wapiti.

All cervid antlers are incredibly rich in vitamins and minerals and are eaten by shrews, voles, squirrels, racoons, skunks, coyotes or domestic pets very shortly after shedding.

I'd rather be an antler than a rail.
