@edgarblythe,
Let's stop to think about what we are doing here.
We are defacing an ancient Japanese art form. Haiku was an important part of Japanese culture that symbolized class and quiet meditation.
Quote:"Basho's mature haiku style, Shofu, is known not only for karumi, but also for two other Zen-inspired aesthetic ideals: sabi and wabi. Sabi implies contented solitariness, and in Zen is associated with early monastic experience, when a high degree of detachment is cultivated. Wabi can be described as the spirit of poverty, an appreciation of the commonplace, and is perhaps most fully achieved in the tea ceremony, which, from the simple utensils used in the preparation of the tea to the very structure of the tea hut, honours the humble."
I am ashamed of my participation in this thread. I was trying to be cute... my intention was clever humor. I failed. This just gets more and more nasty. It is the complete opposite of what I believe haiku was supposed to be about.
I apologize for my part in this thread. I won't be posting any more here.
