I want to start a thread discussing the way blacks are portrayed in popular media. It seemed too topical for any of the 'entertainment' forums; its not really 'politics' or 'current events'... Where can I put it so that it doesn't get switched to another forum where I can't find it?
snood,
you can always find a topic you started by clicking
Your Topics (in the upper left hand corner of every page...)
I see your difficulty, snood. One thing I liked about Abuzz was that a topic could be categorized in a number of different areas at one time. Here, when in doubt, I opt for "general". But that doesn't really help you much, does it? You're really looking for a media & culture thread which doesn't quite come under the definition of either "entertainment" nor "politics". Anyway, it sounds a really interesting topic, so why not just go ahead & start it? You won't lose track of it because the email updates will keep you connected to the thread.
Region - I don't think the question is how to find it - but how to prevent it being moved (by determining the most appropriate forum).
snood - good luck with both of your efforts - picking a forum - and keeping it there.
I think I'd go with Politics, Snood.
That's a very political question...using politics in its broader sense.
I don't think we HAVE a forum it absolutely fits....that would be something like Society/sociology/social politics.
Anyhoo, just my thunks.
<and I'm with msolga - I've often commented on my wish for a media forum - which is where this fits for me>

Yes indeed . We should have a media forum, ehbeth, agreed. So much to discuss there!
Where should the topic listing go for the discussional topic of creating a media forum?
I'd love to see a culture and media forum.
Will watch out for snood's thread too. It sounds interesting.
My suggestions are Politics, Philosophy & Debate or General. It is a truly general question.
I posted it in 'Politics'. See " RE: The Portrayal of Blacks in Popular Media"
