That's odd, and may mean something. I just checked, and it seemed to me all the links were live. Which ones gave you trouble?

Reference your HJT log, what I notice right off hand are that your Windows is out of date, you have MessengetPlus! installed (its a major vector for yuckware), you do not appear to have a resident antivirus or firewall, and you are running HJT from a temporary folder, not from a dedicated folder either directly oin your root drive or in your main Programs folder. Absent other logs, which would have been generated by some of the recommended apps and online scans, I can only suspect the problems you mention stem from MessengerPlus!, though without the additional info, thats just a guess.

I suggest you update your Windows, and resolve the other issues I mentioned, including uninstalling MessengerPlus! and properly installing HJT, download, install, update, and configure both Ad-Aware SE and Spybot S&D, along with CCleaner, CWShredder, EWIDO Security Suite and Microsoft Antispyware Beta, per instructions HERE, then perform the Trend Micro online Spyware Scan, also linked there. Then, disconnect from the internet, boot into safe mode, and run full system scan-and-clean routines with Ad-Aware SE (including its VX2 plugin), CWShredder, EWIDO, Microsoft Antispyware, and Spybot S&D, saving the EWIDO log, and notiung verbatim any error messages, advisories, or "Could not clean/Could not delete" notices you get. When that has been done, run a full scan-and-clean with CCleaner. While still not connected to the internet Boot back into normal mode, and repeat all scan-and-clean operations, finishing with a second CCleaner cleanup, and another reboot, again into normal mode. Immediately following that reboot, run another HJT scan, saving the log. Finally, reconnect to the internet, navigate back here, and post the requested logs and other info.

Note - if the links as supplied in the current Preliminary Yuckware Removal Guide, still give you trouble, lemme know, and I'll see what I can do to get you some alternate links.

Windows XP currently is at Service Pack 2, your installation is Service Pack 1. Additionally, your HJT installation is not as it should be; as mentioned, HJT belongs either on your root drive or in your main Programs folder, in a dedicated folder of its own.

Patchou's MessengerPlus! is a known vector for yuckware infestation. IMO, if you wish to be rid of your problem, you should uninstall it, and its "Sponsor Program", if present, and delete all remaining associated files and folders. You can re-install it if you wish once cleanup has been done, being careful NOT to allow the "Sponsor Program" to install, but even then, I advise against it. See THIS and THIS. Your call.

I suggest you start by ridding your machine of MessengerPlus, and of any P2P filesharing software you might have, be sure you have a current, properly configuered antivirus app and a current properly configured firewall installed, then run through the entire preliminary yuckware removal process.

If you didn't have a problem, you wouldn't be here looking for a solution. I can only offer you advice, based on my own experience dealing with problems such as that you report. You're welcome to take my advice, you're welcome to look elsewhere for advice if you don't like the advice I offer. Again, your call.

Hi again, i don't doubt about the qwuality of your service, don't worry.

My windows doesn't pass authentification and the place where i bought my pc a few years ago is close.

I did EVERYTHING (except) Windows update of course and the Stinger.

When i installed my Msg Plus! i didn't install the advertising thing...

here is my HJT result and other note i had to keep along the process.

OK then, bummer about the validation, but whatchya gonna do - its what you're stuck with, so we'll live with it.

The latest HJT log looks much better. You should have HJT fix this:

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing

Were you able to install and run Microsoft Antispyware?

Yeah, have HJT fix the R3 entry I mentioned above.

Dunno if I'll be able to get back to this yet this evening - just a heads up for you.

Anyhow, locate and launch CCleaner, select "Issues" (the blue stacked blocks icon), and make sure everything in the "Issue Scanning Settings" is selected, then click the "Scan for Issues" button. This could take a while. When it completes, check through the list in the righthand panel to make sure there's nothing there you want to keep (rare, but could happen - if in doubt set the entry to unchecked), otherwise make sure everything else found is selcted. Click "Fix selected issues ... " down at the bottom right of the page. Confirm, and when prompted to create a backup, do so, and note where the backup will be saved. Another "Fix all issues?" box then will pop up, select "Fix all issues", and confirm.

When that has completed, select "Cleaner" (the whiskbroom icon at the top). In the "Windows" tab, make sure everything is selected, then click the "Analyze" button down at the bottom left of that page. Be patient, this will take a while. When that has completed, click the "Run Cleaner" button down at the bottom righthand side of the page, and confirm. Clean it all up, then reboot. Immediately on reboot, run another scan-and-save-log with HJT, post the log here, and I'll look it over and get back to you as soon as I can.

You might wanna click "Turn on email updates" down at the bottom right of this page; you'll be notified by email when a reply is posted to this thread.

i'll let you know about my Cclean result.

Thanks again,

Sylvain.

Okay, just an update on my situation,

I still have the ( Get the next generation smiley) Popup

and i Still have the error message wich is:

(no title on the bottom tab) but when i open the window it says,

> Spyware or adware may be damaging your computer

> If you have downloaded music online or visited adult website, spyware may be running in your computer. Spyware may cause slow computer speed, unwanted pop up ads or personal idendity theft.

> Click ¨Ok¨ to scan your PC now.

I still have the same problem as before but my pc didn't shut down by itself since yesterday. I still easily navigate the internet.

If youthink the problem might be from msg Plus!, i will remove it.

Thank you, Sylvain.

Whatchya got there is known as Winfixer - a nasty, tricky beast often associated with MessengerPlus! Even if both are present on the same machine, as in your case, there may or may not be a direct correlation, though very frequently there is. This little bugger can be associated with filesharing or gaming software - notably poker or other wagering and/or casino applications, and with some chat or "meetup" apps - categories of which I notice examples on your machine. Whole lotta coincidence going on there; I strongly suggest you uninstall all of them before proceeding, but your call.

Download L2MFix to your desktop. Its a small file, and the download should be pretty quick. Don't do anything with it yet, just download it.

Next, I'd like you to launch and update Ad-Aware SE, then close it without running a scan - just update it and close it. Next, visit LavaSoft and download the latest version of VX2 Cleaner V2.0, installing it into Ad-Aware SE per the instructions on that page. Be sure to read and understand how and what to do with the plugin; its a good idea to print out the instuctions.

When that has been done, physically disconnect your machine from the internet, close all other applications, including your resident antivirus and any other security/privacy software you may have, and re-launch Ad-Aware SE. Run the VX2 Cleaner plugin per the instructions. Regardless the result of the first runthrough, run it at least twice, then perform a full system scan-and clean with Ad-Aware SE.

When that has been done, reboot into safe mode, locate and launch Ad-Aware SE once again, and repeat the above procedure, again, regardless of results running the plugin at least twice in a row followed by a full system scan-and-clean with Ad-Aware SE (the object here is be certain Ad-Aware at least thinks it has resolved the issue - we want it to report a clean system at least twice).

Finish this round with a CCleaner scan-and-clean - just the clean, don't do an "Issues" scan.

Reboot normally, but remain disconnected from the internet. Be sure nothing else is running, including your resident antivirus and/or other security/privacy software. Locate and double-click the earlier-downloaded file "l2mfix.exe". You should be presented with a message that reads:
Quote:
By using this tool you do so at your own risk. Please get proper guidance if not sure of anything.
DO NOT mirror without permission from Shadowwar.
I can be reached at [email protected]

At the bottom of that message, click the "Accept" button, which should open another box; in that box, click the "Install" button to extract the files and follow the prompts, which will extract the files to a newly created desktop folder. When that has been done, locate and open the new folder, which will be named "l2mfix". Double-click l2mfix.bat. A Command Prompt box should open which should look like this:

http://img394.imageshack.us/img394/9195/cmdbox5rp.jpg
Place your mouse pointer in the blank area of that box and click once, which should cause a blinking cursor to appear at the end of the last line of text. As suggested, press any key to continue. You should be presented with a box that looks like this:

http://img466.imageshack.us/img466/1296/l2mfix5lu.jpg

With your mouse pointer in that box, press the "1" key on your keyboard to select option #1, then execute "Run Find Log" by hitting your Enter key.

IMPORTANT: DO NOT EXECUTE ANY OF THE OTHER OPTIONS WITHOUT FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS

Be patient; it will seem nothing's happening, but in a little while - couple minutes or so, maybe, Notepad should open with a log. Save that log somewhere you can find it easily, then place your mouse pointer back in the Command Prompt box, click once, then press the "E" key on your keyboard and hit Enter to exit the application. Again, DO NOT EXECUTE ANY OF THIS APPLICATION'S OTHER OPTIONS WITHOUT SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS!

Re-enable your security/privacy software, connect to the internet, locate the log, and post it to this thread.

Can't think of why you should have had a pageload problem here on A2K after removing that stuff ... mighta just been a transitory glitch at the A2K end of the chain. Anyhow, you done good to remove "ContextPlus", its a nasty. You prolly oughtta look in Add/Remove to see if you find anything related to "Apropos Software", or the applications "AM Server" and/or "POP" - if anything of that description shows up, remove it, too.

Another heads up for you - I may not be able to get back to this for a while - later this evening or perhaps early tomorrow. I'll check in a soon as I can though, and thanks for your patience and understanding.

it's okay so far,

i hope it stays like that. I'll let you know tomorrow if any pop up re-appear.

Thank you very much for your helpful support. I really appreciate it.

Don77 was the only one who helped me in the past but now, i can count on both of you for excellent support!

Once again, Thank you!

Sylvain.
