A Warning about Mack Extended Warranty!

I am posting this as a warning...

I sent in my laptop for a minor repair, and after sitting in their shop for 2 months they sent me a huge repair bill

From the get go, their customer service representatives were rude and seemed annoyed that I would even be calling them, before even describing my situation.

Finally, I learned that they had completely destroyed it, and refused to take responsibility...and even had the audacity to say that I was lying and had done the damage. As I am not the only one this has happened to, this may be company policy!

Their customer service representatives are difficult to get ahold of, and are rude and insulting, and as soon as you hang up the phone they seem to forget about everything they promised to do

More people share their stories here:

By the way if you're not sure if you have a warranty with the same company,

it's Mack Camera & Video Service
www.mackcam.com

Grrr...take that stupid BBB seal OFF of your website!

This is the Macintosh? Call Apple and find out what gives.

I only call Apple directly when I have a problem and their
service is fast, efficient and reasonable. My turnaround
was approx. 4 days, including shipping time. They send out
everything overnight with FedEx and also sent me a
cushioned box to send where my model fit right into it.

No complaints with Apple directly.

I don't think it has a thing to do with Apple/Macintosh; seems to me its an issue regarding a 3rd-Party "Extended Warranty" service ... which, IMO, generally are irritation and inconvenience sources anyway. The prime function of such critters is to provide a lucrative no-inventory-required revenue stream for retailers. I'm familiar with a bunch of 'em, and can't think of one I'd recommend.

If the "Warranty", extended or otherwise, is not directly from the product's manufacturor, its likely no bargain at all for and of questionable value to anyone other than the so-called warranty's vendor and adminstrator.
