I'm running Outlook 2002 and when mail comes in, I can't see it unless I resort. Is there a way to fix this? Where does the mail hide?
NOTE: I typically set Outlook to display new mail at the bottom of the page.
any particular reason you don't sort so the newest mail is at the top of the page?
I don't like it that way.
But you're creating this situation, yes? If you have so many messages that they don't all fit on your screen, and the newest ones automatically go to the bottom, then, by definition, you'd have to either scroll down or resort the messages.
You can fix this by either changing the setting or clearing as many messages out of your Inbox as it takes to be able to see new messages without having to scroll.
No, I'm not creating the situation. The mail is not appearing at the bottom where it should. I'm not the only one having the problem either, that's why I asked here.
Ah, now I understand what you're asking, at least I think I do. Is your mail set to automatically send and receive, or do you need to click something in order to get it to do that?
Set to automatically receive.
Hmm there must be some setting we're not taking into account. It wouldn't be a filter because the mail wouldn't move after coming in unless it was manually moved.
I'm stumped. Wacky.
I've seen this before but never consistently like this.
does sorting by most recently received alleviate the problem?
Hey... I have a question about Outllook Express mail too... I'm gonna ask it here if you don't mind, cjhsa.
<Btw... you don't say how it is that you "sort" or "re-sort". Subject, date, or sent by? Just wondering.>
Anyway... on to my problem:
I've received several totally blank emails over the course of the last few days. They're creepy, I think and I decided to make a "rule" so they'd automatically delete. Well, apparently I can't make a rule with blanks in either the subject or sent by (or any other) space. Is there anything anybody knows of that I could do ... other than just delete them myself?
Also, should I be worried with such weird email?
Thanks in advance!

Take a look at one of those blank e-mails - make sure you have active virus protection. Just open it and then click on "View-Options". Take a look at the Internet headers, see if there's a clue in there where the e-mail is coming from.
cj, is there a possibility that the mail is going to a different inbox? what domain is the email coming in from? is it a POP3 or an IMAP server? If it's IMAP, it's possible that the server created a different inbox in your mailbox - that's what it did to me. so i have to find the mail folder , expand it, find inbox in that folder, and only then i get to my new mail... dunno, it could be a bunch of things, play around with settings...
Thanks, cj... This is what it said:

Maybe my email virus protector is blanking them out?
Piffka - possibly. I can't say for sure.
Dag - I don't think so. Why by simply resorting the Inbox would the mail suddenly show up?
