Quote:
In 1967 at the end of the LeMans 24 Hour Endurance Race, Dan Gurney and A.J. Foyt brought their Ford GT-40 race car to an overall victory. It's been a long-standing custom especially in European Auto Races to present the winner(s) with a wreath, bouquet of flowers and a bottle of champagne. However this time Gurney decided to liven up the ceremonies by shaking up this very large champagne bottle and proceeding to spray the surrounding crowd. Foyt did likewise and they both ended up spraying the fans, newspeople, camermen and everyone with champagne.

That is according to this source. BTW, Welcome to A2K! Very Happy
