I've been playing about a bit with php/mysql, but i can't seem to find any really good tutorials on the web that can be downloaded, plus many of the tutorials are for specific fuctions and not a step by step run-through of basic functions, if you know of a good tutorial that has a step by step walkthrough approach to php/mysql please help, or if you're a wizz at it and have some general advice about learning it i would be greatful

You can try looking at php.com's manual here: http://www.php.net/manual/en/ There are alot of information there, I'm sure you can find what you need.

There are at least a few. W3Schools and Tizag are great for beginners.

Hitting the forums and asking questions is a great way to learn as well. Or imagining your own projects and just trying them out on your localhost server is also very important. Because if you never built it yourself, how can you ever really know how to write it or how to use it?

Hi, new to forum and I have just recently installed a WAMP(windows, apache, mysql, php) server on my gaming machine. I have never taken any classes on the subject but am learning how to set up a website for fun. My local windows server is just for testing purposes because I would be too afraid to broadcast myself to the internet and feel very insecure about it. I can help though if anyone needs some guidance with installing these in windows as I have successfully got it going after many troubleshoots Smile
