CDs I burn using Windows Media Player 9 read and play fine on the PC, but when I try to play them in my DVD/CD player, the player reads fewer songs than are on the CD. For example, I burn 200 songs (WMA format...Microsoft) onto the CD. I can open the CD and see all 200 files and play them on the PC. Then, I put the CD in my Panasonic DVD/CD player that plays both MP3 and WMA files and it "sees" only 41 songs.
Those 41 songs play fine.
I thought the problem was with the player so returned it and bought another model. It, too, read only 41 of the 200 tracks. I have burned a couple other Playlists having over 200 tracks and they were read correctly. But, other playlists read fewer files than are really on the CD.
Using 700 mb CDs, recording as "DATA CD" (HighMAT), speed 2x, TDK brand CDs (my CD burning in my laptop is a TDK). I have used 2 other brands of CD (Memorex and Phillips) with the exact same results.
Got me stumped. Can any of you suggest why the external CD player isn't reading all the songs?

Thanks for the welcome
Thanks for the welcome. Hope there are some Media Player savvy folks here.

Are the 41 songs the first 41 songs on the list?
This is quite common, BTW.
Are you using CD-RW?
I think that's pretty common w/CD-RW, and also, some Audio CD players have issues w/Data CDs ... I have a Sony CD car deck that has no trouble w/CD-Audio discs I've burned, but which usually has trouble w/Data CD blanks I've burned, even though they play ok on other gear.
Thanks to all who responded with suggestions! I think the problem is solved. It seems to be the Panasonic DVD/CD players. I returned the first one and bought another Panasonic, different model. Both failed to read all the WMA tracks. Then, I discovered a new Toshiba DVD/CD player and bought it to try. No problems now, it reads all the songs just fine. Back goes the 2nd Panasonic.
Thanks again. I'm impressed with the quick, positive responses.

Glad that worked out. Let us know the models if you get the chance. It's always good to know what players handles the different formats correctly.
I'll remember that since I'm interested in getting a CD burner. I'm also getting a new CD player and will be looking into the Toshiba.
