Has anyone else seen this movie yet?
i know it's a korean movie,but i have not seen it yet.
I would say, if it has crossed your mind, DO rent it.
It was one of the best movies I have seen in a LONG time.
Only in the past 2 years have I got into "Asian" films.Ringu ( The ring ),Dark Water, etc.
Old Boy is,by any means,a brilliant film! It takes you from up high laughing to down there crying, with a bit ( well a lot really ) of "oh no ! " A cracking movie.
The director's new film Sympathy For Lady Vengeance is also creating quite a stir
I heard of OldBoy because Quinten Terintino ( spelling...? ) had spoke about it several times.
Basically.. If I see his name near any movie title, I jump to watch it.
Oldboy was absolutly WONDERFUL.
And you are right, it was a great rollercoatser of emotions.
The plot was always changing, in ways some times , you never see coming.
The story was well written and what I enjoyed about it the most was that it was believable.
It wasnt some government plan... or some hostage exchange for drugs, it was a rumor from high school.
I will definatly see Sympathy for Lady Vengance..
if you enjoygood emotional rollercoasters, i would suggest watching Crash..
It's twisted as hell, but a great film for lovers of warped mind-fĂșck thrillers. It's original, stylish, and the man who plays protagonist Oh Daesu does a great job.
Oldboy has had huge critical acclaim and is a fave among film connoiseurs. Highly recommended if you liked, say, Memento and 12 Monkeys.
If you haven't seen it, just rent/buy it but leave the thread - beware spoilers!
