Hooking up a PC to a TV

Reply Sun 9 Oct, 2005 08:26 pm
I would like to be able to hook up my PC to a television so I can use my PC on different floors of the house. Is it possible to hook up a PC that doesn't have a video-out cable (the yellow one, I believe) port?

accessing your PC from multiple locations in a household.
f. style,
Not only would you need multiple video outs (a yellow cable, or there's a few other possibly cables that you could use), but you'd need multiple keyboard and mice inputs. If you only sent video upstairs, you'll be able to see what your computer downstairs is doing, but nothing else. I'm not sure if there are any existing solutions for what you're trying to do, my intent is just to make you aware that you'll also need multiple inputs in conjunction with the video out.

i'm sorry Blindsight, I should've been more clear.

The purpose for this PC-to-TV cable/whatever would be that I can carry my PC to different floors of my house and plug my PC into the TV there. This is mostly in hopes of not having to buy a DVD player and/or playing computer games on a larger screen.

Thanks for making sure on that though.

You can use the video out no problems.
I used to do this with an old machine ages ago.
Playing GTA1 on a 52" screen was cool.
Bloody awful resolution but cool nonetheless.

Get a video card with a video out.
Or nothing cheap.
