C'mon, let's hear it, fellow prognosticators and prognosticatrixes!

AL
Red Sox over White Sox in 5 (sorry jp)
Yankees spank the Angels in 3

Then Red Sox over the Damn Yankees in 7, with a lot of late night nailbiters like last year.

NL
Cards over Padres in 4
Braves sweep the Astros in 3

Then the Braves over the Cards in 7.

World Series (gotta be an optimist):
Bosox over the Braves in 6.

What say you????

I don't have a problem with that, however, I like the Angels over the Yankees.

Man... I don't know who to pick this year. Considering we didn't know many of the participants until two or three days ago is proof to how close this thing could be. My best guess:

ALDS

Boston over Chicago in 5 (I'm sorry too)

Chicago has a chance if their pitching returns to pre-allstar break form. They aren't going to out hit the Bo Sox so they HAVE to out pitch/defend them.

Yanks over Angels in 4

Colon gets the lone win for the Angels. Besides that the Yanks are going to dominate.

NLDS

Cards over Padres in 3. Pitching. Hitting. Defence. Enough said.

Braves over Stro's in 5. Pitching is ging to keep Houston in it till the end. but the Braves are hot right now and won't lose.

ALCS

Yanks over Boston in 6. Nice win last year... not going to happen again. As good as a team Boston is, IMO, they have under performed all year.

Cards over Braves in 7. Two tough teams. Cards edge it out with better pitching and a proven closer. Just to many questions with the Braves pitching.

World Series
Cards over Yanks in 6. They're pissed. They're out to prove they can win. They have the pitching to do it.

I'll stay out of this. I can't bet or make picks rationally when the Braves are involved. Carry on, the rest of you!

Could be an interesting post-season. Here is my 2 cents worth.

AL

Angels over Yanks in 4
Sox over Sox in 5 (If only I could decide on the color)

Angels over Sox in 6

NL

Cards over Pads in 4
Stros over Braves in 5 (Although I will root for the Braves till the bitter end)

Astros over Cards in 6

Series: Astros over Angels in 6

I just like the Astros pitching too much to think they could lose a 7 game series. So I think the trend of the wild card team winning it will continue this year.

My predictions are similar to Coastal Rat's.

AL:
Angels over Yanks in 5
Sox over Sox in 5 (clearly the most difficult series to call)

Sox over Angels in 6

NL:
Cards over Padres in 4 (let them win one for the kids)
Astros over Braves in 5

Astros over Cards in 7

Sox over Astros in 6

I think the trend of the American League champ winning it will continue this year.

Well, my predictions totally stank. fbaezer, you got the winning lottery numbers, too?

PS I'm thinkin' Astros over White Sox in 7, mainly because I feel the karmic debt for the 1919 Black Sox scandal has not yet been repaid.

I think ChiSox are team of destiny. So I will pick them in 6.

(My prediction assures that the opposite will happen, so I suggest betting on the Astros...)

Sorry for the gloating, but I gotta.

I think I underestimated the White Sox, they won in less games than predicted.

I must add that I published my prediction on a national newspaper I write for, and specified the color of the winning Sox. This is the second year in a row I go 7 for 7. But this time I was even better, predicting that the Braves bullpen would be the cause of their fall, that the Yankees middle relief and Boston starters would mean trouble for their teams and that the problem with Houston was inconsistent batting. Smile

So it's not really lottery picking. I do write about MLB (as an aside: not my real job) and analyse A LOT of statistics.

Razz

your baseball expertise notwithstanding, i got a microscopic bone to pick with ya, fbaezer.

correct me if i'm wrong, but it looks like you never specified sock-color when you posted your picks:

Diplomacy with the starter of the thread, dear RP, and a the sense that the BoSox, even with inferior pitching, may have kept their 2004 postseason magic.
(Of course, you can see my interventions on the "Is it too early to get excited thread", see my posts and, perhaps, arrive to a conclusion).

One week before the end of the season, I predicted in the paper a "Sox War" in the Championship Series, but the Yanks won the division Sad.
