Free AVG Antivirus Scan

Free AVG.......increases its scanning every time I scan.......it now takes 50 minutes........when it started two months ago it only took ten minutes......I delete E mails etc daily.........I empty Internet Files..........actually I do very little just mail and games...........I am retired and not too clever.where are all these files coming from.....why am I getting such a build up ? Gee
