G'day all.
Here's the prob:
I have a fairly new, and fairly expensive computer. It has a CD/DVD R-RW burning drive, but it won't burn anything onto a CD RW.. just the Rs and DVDs.
Not data, or audio, or anything.
What's up with that?
thanks
bm. I've been having the same problem with my computer; sometimes it saves on CDs and sometimes it doesn't. I can't figure out the problem, but I've been trying. What I've ended up with are a whole lot of CDs that will end up at Goodwill.
rw's need formatting first
UDF is a format specification and probably needs to be set for each devise
deleted, Do you have Win xp? If so, try this.
Click Start, and right-click My Computer
Select Properties, click Hardware, click Device Manager.
Click the + sign next to DVD/CD-ROM or similar
If it doesn't show CD or DVD, close Device Manager
If listed, do the following.
Click Start, right-click My Computer
Select Properties
Select Recording tab and reduce the current speed by half.
Click OK and close.
Try writing a CD
Let us know if this works.
Apparently my Mother's already tried altering the recording speed. Is there anything else that I could try, or should I give that another go?
Try this:
Click, Start, Run, and type pcdrw32
Click OK and wait for PC Doctor to appear
Open the appropriate CD?DVD-ROM test from the list
If an error code is reported, the computer may need to be serviced. Run test again to confirm the error code using PC Doctor.
Let us know what happens.
