Can a virus be carried through an HTML notepad document, which I made myself, from one computer to another, via an online file storage [like Yahoo! Briefcase] ??

In theory......yes.

A virus could insert some javascript into the html file, which when viewed could cause the virus to either download itself from another site or copy code into other files on the users machine.

As long as you check the source code of the file before uploading to make sure there is no code that you did not write, and whoever opens the file does so first in notepad to check for suspicious code......you will be fine.
