mic problems..input/output mixed up

i would appreciate it very much if sum1 could help with this:

for some reason when i use my mic (to talk to friends online) they can hear my audio..even if i have my headphones on they can still hear what i am hearing..

i think my output(speakers) are going thru my input(mic)...anyone know how to fix this?
