Where is the biggest mountain in the world, i say its mount everest in nepal. Two of my workmates say its under the pacific ocean somewhere.
Please help
Mount Everest is the tallest mountain on land, with K2 nearby coming in second. Mauna Loa, the Hawaiian vaolcano, is apparently the tallest mountain on Earth, measured from the ocean floor to the top of the mountain. The Hawaiian islands are all volcanic islands, starting on the ocean floor.
(Read Hawaii by James Michener)
There is a mountain in Hawaii that is taller - but 18,000 feet of it is under water. Check out

Wy is right. Why don't you just enter info & see what turns up in gerneral search?? Of course you wouldn't need this site then!!
Indeed, wy is correct on the tallest mountains. In and out of the sea.
basicly in geographical sciences the tallest mountain is taken as that which can be seen and hence it is Mt. Everest . however, hawaii is the tallest one but since it is mainly in sea so it is not counted as one.
Perhaps "highest" should be defined as "highest above sea level"
Interesting, never realized Mauna Loa was that large. Pretty impressive.

It is.
As far as the Guinness Book Of Records is concerned anyway.
They do mention Mauna Loa though as being the tallest mountain in absolute 'bottom to top' terms.
