who gets the largest average attendance over the course of a season?
is it a german soccer club,an nfl side or what?
anyone know?
a list of the top 50 would be nice.
Actually I think the sport with the highest average attendance is NASCAR racing.
Among team sports, it may be Real Madird.
Soccer
i thikn it might be real madrid
they have a lot of stars amongst them like ronaldo, carlos and all other greeat players
they have really a good lethal combination but have not been upto the mark
but my favorite team is manchester united, quite cool team
I heard soccer was first....
I guess it's Real Madrid.
Which BTW is a triumph of merchandising, not sport.
nope, Real Madrid is not first even in Spain - Barcelona is.
As far as I know, world record so far is Borrusia Dortmund in season 2003/2004 with average attendance with 79,647 spectators in average (highest 83.000 in several ocassions)
that's soccer.
in NFL, I think Washington Redskins with average 88.940 are the best. so it's probable it is world record for all sports as well.
Is that statistical data from polls MOU? I know more Spanish madridistas than anything else (and they're not from Madrid, either, + I personally prefer Barca). Outside Spain, it's OBVIOUS Real Madrid has the widest following (after all, non-Spaniards didn't have to live under Franco).
Stadium attendance is not a good measurement, since stadiums have different sizes.
Besides, there are different support levels of a team. Going to the stadium ranks among the highest.
If we go by attendance, Real Madrid has an average of 68670, while Barcelona, with a bigger stadium, averages 65150.
Barcelona has 130000 paying club members, while Real has only 69000.
When it comes to sales of jerseys and apparel, Real Madrid has a big big edge.
When you look at the (actual) figures for
the German Bundesliga, you'' notice that Mainz has only an average of 20,300 spectators.
There can't go more than that to their stadium: Mainz is always completely sold out.
sorry, fbaezer, forgot to leave links, and I was responding only to attendance part which is actually his first and main question in the post (and title can lead to something else) although I agree with you that it's not best measurement.
I am at my work now so I can't find link for that Borussia record, however, I found one for last season:
http://www.european-football-statistics.co.uk/attn.htm
there you can see that Borussia was also best with 77.294, while in Spain best attendance had Barcelona with 73.537.
Bundesliga is best among leagues with average attendance of 37.771.
