1837-0619, Small Pox Kills 1,600-Mandan Indians.
87-Percent of total, in 2-months, South Dakota. The Mandan Tribe, caught small pox from a sick, sailor, an American Fur Company steamship. 2months all 1,600-were dead.
MA4 Filcher, Superintendent of Indian affairs at St Louis, and Mr. M'Kenzie were witness during the epidemic, their combined report: A ship from St. Louis had sick crewmen. It stopped in SD to trade with the Mandan Tribe. The disease became so very painful, and malignant that death ensued in 3-hours after its attacks. And so, slight were their hopes, and in so much pain, when they were attacked, 45-percent committed suicide with their knives, with their guns, and by dashing their brains out by leaping head-foremost off a 30-foot ledge of rocks in front of the village. The 1ST symptom of the disease was a rapid swelling of the body, and so very virulent had it become, that very many died in 3-hours after their 1ST symptom, and that in many cases without the appearance of the disease up the skin. All classes of Indian, gender and all ages were infected. They committed suicide in despair. There was but one continual crying and howling from pain, and praying to the Great Spirit for his protection during the nights and days; and there being but few living, and those in too appalling despair, nobody thought of burying the dead, whose bodies, whole families together, were left in horrid and loathsome piles in their own wigwams, with a few buffalo robes, thrown over them, there to decay, and be devoured by their own dogs. That such a proportion of their community as that mentioned above, should have perished 2-months, seems yet to the reader, an unaccountable thing. Our doctor notices the Indians do not use salt. He attributes this to the high death rate.
In the morning the epidemic started, Mandan Chief Mah'to toh-pa, or '' the Four Bears," woke up, the tribe was healthy, by noon, 9-of his family members were dead. He sat in his wigwam and watched as 1,600Mandan died about him. When it was his turn to die, he wrapped himself in buffalo blankets and walked into the forest. 6-Days later, he was almost starved to death but still alive. He went back to the village, caught the disease, and died the next day. He was “The last Mandan”. All 1,600-died 2-months. The 3-White men were healthy.
There was a vaccination for smallpox. Indians did not like injections said it might cause kids autism.
Once the epidemic started, Indians realized there was a vaccine and rushed to White towns to get shots.
In 1977-0615, The Last Case of Smallpox-Earth reported.

1879-0615, War, British Soldiers Murdered by Urophagia.
Urophagia is the consumption of urine. The following is an account from a biography of English COL John Masters during the Second Anglo-Afghan War, 1878-1880.
War for the Pashtuns (Afghanistan) was an honorable, exciting and manly exercise. No mercy was shown, and none was expected. Neither side aimed to take prisoners. The Pashtuns customarily mutilated and then beheaded any British wounded or dead who fell into their hands.
Female camp followers often carried out the murder of wounded and mutilation of bodies. A wounded British soldier on the battlefield would be held on the ground and his jaw forcibly opened with a stick so that he could not swallow, then women would squat and urinate in his mouth until he drowned.
COL Frank Baines, who served on the North-West Frontier and later with COL Masters in Burma, added, “If you got captured, you would be carved up and quartered and had your cock cut off and stuffed in your mouth while women were pissing in your mouth.”
Poem, Rudyard Kipling:
Young British Soldier.
When you're lying out wounded on Afghanistan's plains.
and the women come out to cut up what remains.
You roll to your rifle and blow out your brains.
and go to God like a soldier.

1850-0928, UCMJ, Navy Abolishes Flogging.
The United States Navy abolishes the practice of flogging. Among the crimes for which this was the penalty are:
12-Lashes for stealing poultry from the coop.
12-For stealing a wig.
09-Being naked on the spar deck.
06-Being lousy.
This reform is perhaps the signature moment in Millard Fillmore’s presidency.
