Alright, here's the deal. I'm a romantic comedy writer that needs some inspiration. I haven't written in a while and I have the sudden urge to write, and worst of all I have writer's block. Leave an idea here and maybe I'll write it out. If you need to view some of my previous works it is available
HERE
A story about a writer who is trying to come up with a "cute meet" for her soon-to-be-involved characters. She struggles and starts over repeatedly, but it won't come out right. Meanwhile, in her own life, she falls into "cute meet" situations every time she turns around. It never occurs to her to write one of her own experiences...
There's a movie about that scenario called Alex and Emma
Why don't you write something like "The Awful Truth," about the funny things that happen between the time when a couple go to court to get a divorce and when it becomes final. Something perhaps about trying to sabotage each others' dates.
I've been waiting for the next great romantic comedy that has dark notes.
Characters that are burnt-out, drab, and hilarious. Life's little details that go unattended; those are loaded with clever little romantic bits.
I have been loving the recent outpouring of romantic comedies that feature older characters. That is so often neglected nowadays.
How about a geriatric romance? that could be funny. Romance blooms in a retirement home, or at funerals of friends, etc.
How about a romance between a man and his pet? Nothing sick or truly deviant; he simply grows more and more interested in his pet vs his wife, mistress, whatever. It leads him into the arms of someone else, or back to his lover somehow.
How about a cross-cultural romance?
a romeo-and-juliet story that is turned inside out with romeo straying?
good luck:)
