Euthanasia / assisted suicide

In Germany, I think it's legal in 2026 to obtain and have the substance, but the person who wants to die must give or take it themselves. So, assisted yes, but active euthanasia no.

However, many services are tied to commercial organizations that charge a lot of money (7,000 euros and more). They simply exploit people.

Ideally, everyone should have access to pentobarbital as easily and legally as shampoo in everyday stores. But so far, that’s not the case.

The state in Germany is a industrialized and commercialised state, very dead. Real human rights are here not available, especially for women who are poor.

After a 2020 ruling by the Federal Constitutional Court of Germany, the general ban on “business-like” assisted suicide was struck down, but that didn’t automatically create a simple, over-the-counter system. As of 2026, there still isn’t a clear, comprehensive federal law regulating access. In practice, it usually involves medical assessments and strict procedures, and active euthanasia (someone else administering a lethal substance) remains illegal.

It’s definitely a sensitive and emotional topic. Whatever one’s view, the legal reality is more regulated and less straightforward than it might appear from headlines.
