Because there were so many things that I didn't know...
That love has a shape
and desire a color
That silence could mean everything
and words, nothing at all.
That emptiness could fill a cathedral
with soaring walls of longing,
That truth could be solid,
and sorrow just a song.
That facts are not substance
and that myths could sustain me.
That the sky was molten pewter
and the earth but emerald mist.
That bridges could span fleeing years
and that rivers could run sleeping.
That the piece of dream you offered me
was heart-shaped, worn and blue.
That time only passes and sings of all and of nothing
and that life is no more than all that I have learned.
Good vibes, brother
Really digging the facts without substance and mythical sustenance. Really digging the piece of worn, blue, heart-shaped dream. Really digging that, daddy-o.
Bekaboo - I never thanked you for your response - sorry - didn't see it - but I do want to say thank you.
Dickster - Glad your diggin' it. But I'm starting to get worried. I was so excited that I might have a serious critiquer here (namely, You) and now I'm not so sure. It won't kill me or anything, but it would be nice to know I'm getting a real opinion -because I'm working on another short story as we speak and I need input. So, are you for real, daddio? Give it to me straight, homes- I can take it. I'm used to all kinds around these parts....
*Seriously, I've read some of your stuff - the newest you just posted-the part about the tidal wave over the plains- you're good - I would value your serious input. But whatever you decide is fine of course - Aidan
