Am I Being Scammed?

She didn't take the time to get acquainted. It's unnerving how quickly her "agent" was able to delve into the content of my book without buying a copy. I've procrastinated but now I plan to block her.

I did block her. Part of me is protesting but it had to be done just to remove the uncertainty.

If it sounds too good to be true, it almost certainly is a scam.

I can't figure what they could have done to me but we don't know each other well enough to share personal information.

I would also be concerned about what "make improvements" means. Sounds kind of vague, to me.

I took it to mean professional editing, since I edited it all by myself.

They will offer to improve your writing for maybe 20$, or 200$, or 2,000$ and every time you 'let' them help you they will charge you again. They will offer fake endorsements from other authors and explain how they put Steven King on top of the world. I have a friend (from work) who has written 3 books in the last five years....one was about his daughter's battle with colon cancer, and the other two are based upon sites he was assigned to during the VietNam war (but the sites were in Eastern Europe). Not everybody worked VietNam, but a lot did......there were other dangerous areas that our Government keep track of.

I'll ask my friend how he supports his books, his wife broke her hip about 2 weeks ago so they are mostly working on her rehab right now. I know he has taken his books to various sites that retired military tourists like to go.......I'll see if he has any ideas to share. Sadly, today around 1 PM we have to go to the funeral of a dear friend from work, this funeral is breaking my heart. She died at age 78 but her husband is 87 and will be living alone after this, He's going to need a lot of help. I'll get back to you probably Mon or Tues.

I just don't understand what they could have expected to gain from me. I never would have agreed to even a penny, as I told them in the beginning.

At least I didn't wake up with a horse head on my bed.

If nothing else there's always some variation of the fake check scam.

After they hacked my book and then she asked about emails I got scared and blocked her.
