Standings after Day 9:

1 tgordon92 501
2 Skin Rip 430

We're at about the halfway point in medals awarded, so there's still plenty of time for the standings to change.

Much like yesterday, Skin Rip started to eat into my lead during the day, only to have USA get a load of medals at Stade de France in the evening to maintain the status quo.

We're at the 3/4 point right now. In addition to the optimal team making a profit, several countries have done so already:

High-priced countries: South Korea (which is already 25 points in the black), New Zealand, Ireland, Romania, and Australia

Lower-priced countries: Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Ecuador, Greece, South Africa, Uganda, Botswana, Dominica, North Korea, Kosovo, Fiji, and Tajikistan

Not expected to medal but did: Chile, St. Lucia, Guatemala, Pakistan, Cyprus, Malaysia, Cape Verde, Zambia, and the Refugee Olympic Team.

Shin Rip closed a bit of the gap on me. The next couple of days have a lot of US teams playing in their finals and some Uzbek boxers fighting in finals, but also a lot of Chinese boxers fighting in finals. It should be interesting.

There are just 13 sets of medals remaining, and in seven of those the gold vs. silver matchup is already known. I haven't actually done the math yet, but I'm pretty sure this is going to be the final order of the standings.

The USA vs. China battle for most gold medals should be interesting. The US is one gold medal behind, but has finalists in women's 76kg wrestling, women's volleyball, and women's basketball. They also are the favorite to win the women's cycling omnium. Both the US and China have medal contenders in women's +81kg weightlifting, with China the more likely to win gold.

@tgordon92,
That women's basketball final was insane. Props to France for a great gameplan that fell one point and one foot short.

Both the USA and China gave good dividends, and I thought they were overpriced.
My biggest flop was Ethiopia. But also Jamaica and Spain underperformed,

Kudos to the gold and silver medalists, And thank you for keeping this game alive.

Thanks to everyone for playing and to markr for his tech support in scoring!

I'll try to do a recap of stats in the next couple of days, but if I don't, then I look forward to seeing you all in 18 months for the 2026 Winter Olympics!
