Does he respond to roast chicken? A vet once told me that was one of the first things they tried with sick cats who were sick & off their food. Fresh & warmish ... Salmon (for humans) has kept my critter happy the last couple of days .... & those Go Cat gravy/fish concoctions ... The vet's wife said so for stuff with STRONG smell to get them interested in food.

That's my bootsie dog. <grin> Ain't she cute?

Screech'll eat chicken and beef, but he prefers fish (tuna and salmon). Over all else, he loves that fancy feast! It's just not as good for his diabetes. I heard that about strong smelling food stimulating their appetites, but when screech doesn't want to eat he just won't. I had to force feed him a couple weeks ago.

Fancyfeast! Must see if they have it here, littlek.
THanks for putting the idea into my head!

Guess I'd better head off to bed very soon ... Thanks everyone for listening & being so supportive. Very much appreciated!

Not good, littlek.
I think he's got his (recurring) cold back now. Suspect his immune system may have had enough, poor baby.
So <sigh> I suspect it'll be the final vet visit very soon. Terribly sad. I just wish this wasn't happening. Thank you for asking.

And thank you. margo for your thoughts, too.

I just HAD to get back online to tell you this (though you probably won't read it till tomorrow):

I went to the supermarket & found those little tins of FancyFeast ... Rushed home & tried it & it worked!!!! So the worst has been put of for a day or 2, at least. I'm mightily relieved. Just wasn't ready for the worst yet ... Not today, anyway..
He sat up, sniffed, then gobbled! Very Happy Then stretched & walked around for a while.
I couldn't stand the thought that he might be starving, or dehydrating ... Or maybe completely miserable.
Thanks for the good suggestion!

I always thought of FF as the equivelant of junk-food. I'm so glad it helped! And there's all sorts of flavors.

Aaaaahhh, that's good news.....

Do you think there's something addictive in FF/ Maybe some variety of pussycat drug? Very Happy Even in in Rats's very ill condition, he wiped the plate clean this morning ... Amazing!

Yep, he's a very special critter. I just hate seeing him have such a difficult time of it, though. <sigh>
