The NFL regular season ends next weekend. Sigh.
But cheer up! The playoffs begin soon. Playoffs? Playoffs?! Yes, playoffs.
That means it's time to play "Road to the Super Bowl". It's easy. It's fun.
None of us know what we're doing, but we do it anyway.
In the first round we pick the winners of the Wild Card games.
Then we pick the players and winners of the rest of the playoffs.
Here is how it works:
Wild Card Round
You get 1 point for each correct pick in the 4 Wild Card games.
- Plus you get 4 points if you get all 4 games right.
Playoffs
Then, you get 2 points for each game you get right in the first round of
the playoffs (Division championship)
- and 4 points for predicting the winners in next round (Conference
championship)
- and 8 points for correctly choosing the Super Bowl champion.
On we go!
Wild Card Weekend
Time to pick your wild card winners!
1 point for each correct guess and a 4 point bonus if you get them all.

Having had time to second-guess myself, I have changed my picks:
Cleveland Browns
Miami Dolphins
Buffalo Bills
Dallas Cowboys
Detroit Lions
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Pretty sure I'll regret this
@George,
It’ll be interesting to see if he still wants to be coaching in the NFL. He’d be welcome by most of the teams that want a new coach but that is no indication of him wanting them. I’m sure he’ll be missed by Kraft. Not so much by the Boston sports media. I hear tell that WASH Commies might be a possible landing spot.
Also available for hire is Pete Carroll and the ‘other’ Harbaugh.
@Ragman,
The Hoodie may also be interested in coaching the Atlanta Falcons, so I read.
I wasn't going to do this year. But I was curious in what Bard.Google (Google's AI bot) would predict. Below is the AI bot's response to my prompt.
Quote:
Alright, with NFL in mind, here are my picks for potential winners in the upcoming wild card games:
Saturday:
Cleveland Browns: The Browns have a strong rushing attack and a solid defense, which could be enough to upset the Texans at home.
Kansas City Chiefs: Despite facing some struggles this season, the Chiefs remain a high-powered offense led by Patrick Mahomes, giving them the edge over the Dolphins.
Sunday:
Buffalo Bills: The Bills are the dominant team in the AFC East and Josh Allen is playing at an MVP level. While the Steelers have experience, facing Buffalo at home is a tough hurdle.
Dallas Cowboys: The Cowboys boast a high-powered offense with Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott, and their home crowd should give them the extra boost to overcome the Packers.
Monday:
Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Tom Brady and the Buccaneers have playoff experience and a strong defense, which could be the difference against the Eagles, especially on their home turf.
Please note: These are just potential winners based on current form and statistics. Predicting NFL games is notoriously difficult, and any of these matchups could go the other way. Consider these as informed picks, but don't take them as guarantees.

@tsarstepan,
These are not informed picks. Seeing that the AI bot has NFI what it’s talking about, let the buyer beware. It has not learned that RB Ezekiel Elliott was traded from Dallas to the NE Patriots.
More importantly, they have Tom Brady playing QB for the Bucs. Yup, that’s right! Someone better tell Tommy boy!
@tsarstepan,
Okay. Bard. Google left out one game.
I don't care.
Here's one for Los Angeles Rams.

When I do use the service (more ironically rather than earnestly), I constantly find mistakes in the AI bot's responses. Even worse? Mistakes that literally contradict their previous claim in an earlier paragraph from that singular answer/response to whatever prompt I give them.
@tsarstepan,
Yup! AI is bad to the bone!
