@JPB,
Bill E, who's playing here, is a Chicago area guy (Joliet) and rabid Bears fan.
He would rather be boiled in oil than follow the Packers.

Picks aside, that was a fun game of football to watch. I didn't pick them to go further than this weekend but I'm loving the Detroit energy.

@George,
That made me laugh out loud. Mr B is a lifelong Bears fan. Hailing from New England gives me carte blanche to not love the Bears.

@George,
Cheesehead is a diehard Packers fan. But I didn't think even he would pick them to go all the way.

@lmur,
I don't have a dog in this fight due to my misplaced confidence in the
Buffalo Bills, but it should an entertaining match. You've got the number one
seed taking on the defending champs and two mobile, accurate QBs. I'm
looking forward to it.

@George,
I like that each year seems to throw up different contests at this stage. If I recall correctly, it isn't that long ago that the Lions went winless in the regular season and here they are in the Divisional final. That scenario increasingly does not happen in the major European leagues where fewer than a handful of teams dominate year after year.

@lmur,
That's why they've been so fun to watch. They almost made the playoffs last year after a miserable 4-12 season the year before.

@JPB,
Also a kick to watch the long-suffering fans of a team like Detroit.

@George,
It's funny because Chicagoans have a deep hatred of the Pistons (and Piston fans) from the Michael Jordan era with the Bulls. The Lions have been so bad for so long (kind of like the Bulls post-Jordan era) that there's a warmth there for the vibe in Detroit. That and the Bears suck.

Today is the day. Detroit's organization have exceeded any/all expectation. In regards to today's game, some say we're playing with house money. We're not expected to win. In the state of Michigan everything close to the color Hawaiian blue is sold out. Balloons, light bulbs, clothing, candy etc. One game away. We should be playing loose and relaxed, no pressure and run that ball to the outside on those Niner's. As long as Montana and Rice don't suit up, I think we have a decent chance of upsetting.
Go Lions!

Here's the situation. The only one who has a chance to catch JPB is
euroceltic. JPB has 18 points, euro has 11. JPB picked 49ers and Ravens
today, euro picked Chiefs and Lions.

If Ravens and 49ers win, JPB takes it all.
If Chiefs and 49ers win, JPB takes it because she''ll retain her 7-point lead
and euro will not have a team in the Super Bowl.

BUT

If Chiefs and Lions win, euro takes it all with a 1-point lead and JPB out of
the Super Bowl.
And here's the most interesting scenario:
If Ravens and Lions win, euro stays within 7 points of JPB, but JPB will not
have a team in the Super Bowl. So euro would win if the Lions win the
Super Bowl, but would have to settle for second if they do not.
