I've got some basic experiance making web sites, but only really from a design perspective. I have no experiance or knowlage of web site servers.

COuld anyone fill me in on some for the basics so I can start trying to find out more. Links would also be appreciated.

If you have any specific questions I may be able to help, but the general topic of "servers" is something that many spend 4 years in college and years of work experience to master, it's too broad a question to be easily answered in one thread.

If your wanting to build a website, hosted on a remote server the first thing you need to do is buy web hosting somewhere. You'll also need to register a domain. I suppose I can't post links here, its against site policy. After that, you'll set your domain name to point to your webhosts nameserver.

Thats as basic as it gets, you have a site and it's hosted. Add your content to your webserver, that easy.
