I bought this beautiful, vintage red christmas sweater with white yarn and felt details from the thrift store. The washing instructions on the tag said "hand wash separately, cold water, no bleach" which I followed exactly. I washed the sweater in a tub of cold water with Woolite Delicates, but the red dye of the sweater still bled and stained all of the white yarn and felt detailing. It does look like the dye only penetrated the top layer of most of the details because I can still see white underneath. Is there any way to fix this, or is it a lost cause?
Also, I'm not sure if this is relevant but the fabric composition is 55% Ramie, 45% Cotton, exclusive of ornamentation.
@reiofsunshine1,
Tie dyer here. Use Woolite color catcher, and/or Color Catchers. Hand wash cool.
