Yes, exactly! You guys are my family and I truly mean that.

It's amazing how close you can get to people you never even met :-D

Remember the old saying, "You can choose your friends, but you can't choose your family"?

Thanks to A2K, that's no longer true.

I just wish the rest of my relatives were as smart, kind and funny as all of you.

When we got the bad news, I didn't turn to my family (except, of corse, my mom and Dana), I came right here where I knew I'd find comfort from my real family.

One of my aunts who called today was the first person I told and she said "Well, Dana is better off". Go figure. Then one of my uncles called after hearing the news from my aunt and didn't he say the same thing ,sigh!

That reminds me, I have to send my brother an email to let him know.

It was harsh, Montana, but I truly believe they thought that would somehow be of comfort. No more legal hassles with him, no more painful encounters, no more opportunities for abandonment.

Obviously they are pleased that you and Dana won't have to go through any more of that.

And frankly, I am, too.

(Of course, there is SO much more to it.....)

In other words, that was just their blockheaded way of saying they care about you.

Yeah, I guess I hadn't thought of it that way. My head is a bit in the clouds, no doubt.
Thanks for pointing that out. I was a bit ticked.

You're awesome, you know that!

I missed this Gez. I saw the post, but never looked to see who started it. Sorry for the late arrival.

Sure glad to see so many people around here with such a better way with words than I. You've handled so much for so long, I know you can deal with this too.

Thanks Rog. Yeah, with the exception of crying on a dime the past few days, I'm ok. My concern right now is focused on helping Dana get through it.
He's got some anger towards the Doc who gave his dad the meds and his fathers sister for never bothering to call him, but we are working through those issues every day and he's getting better. One day at a time, as they say.

Thank so much for your support :-)

I hope this is OK for me to say... Montana, I wish my own mom had been a lot more like you. My life would have been so much happier and easier.

At least I know there ARE some really good mothers out there.

I admire you for that and for your basic human goodness. I don't think we value such things enough. Thanks, Montana, for being your sweet self. You've helped me more than you know.

Of course it's ok for you to say, BK. In fact, I appreciate your kindness and your warm thoughts and I can't thank you enough. It's people like yourself that help round me and make me who I am. Without you, my life wouldn't be the same.
I am so very grateful for my computer because it's my extention to all the kind, caring, loving and compassionate people, such as yourself.
My life is complete with you in it and I honestly don't know what I'd do without you guys.

BK
Please know that you have also helped me more than you know. You're the absolute best :-D

We're doing ok, Eva. Dana actually took it much better than I did and he has recovered nicely. I suppose it's all due to the fact that his father was simply never there for him and the bottom line is that they never really knew eachother very well.
After mourning for the past week, I'm also doing much better and am back on track.
I was very upset for a while because there was no obit or any services, but my ex's nephew took over and made that happen as well, so now I'm content with knowing someone gave a **** and I'm ready to get on with my life.

You guys truly helped me get through this and I am forever grateful to you all :-D

Well, you're more than welcome, M. After all, if anything similar happens to any of us, we know we'll be able to count on you. You're a sweetheart, and we know it. We're lucky to have you here.
