help obtaining a fiance visa

Any advice if your fiance visa case is being held up at the embassy. We have a wedding date scheduled for the beginning of October. Our application is at the embassy in London but have been told they couldn't locate our paperwork. We supplied them with a fed ex tracking number but have not gotten any response.
