Adhesions--scar tissue--makes sense.

Gentle bending might help--if the doctor approves.

So, is everything alright? Just one of those mysterious things that came along, and finally went away? This is not a real confidence builder for the medical system, but I do hope it has gone, and for good.

no rog, I'm afraid everything isn't all right. I am in pain all the time, even though the constipataion is gone and the GI tests showed everything moving smoothly.

Yes osso the back pain is definitely where the abdominalk pain radiates.

Swimp the doctor looking at my G.I. shots and ultrasouns specifically mentioned adhesions but said she found none.

Something is wrong and the worst by product of it is the weakness that becomes more pronounced. Today I got up and ninety minutes later slept 2 hours. We went to the mall to walk and I could barely do a mile, then came home and slept 3 hours. I went to Best Buy to pick up a movie and afer 10 minutes had to go to the car to wait because I couldn't stand any more. I am feeling halfway okay right now because I've taken pain meds, but I just can't eat them constantly. I will have to sen a sub in to do my show tomorrow as I cannot possibly stand for four hours.

I am no longer running a fever, it's just this abdominal pain which is 24/7 with or without indigestion and gas. It's sucking the life out of me.

dlowan it's not like you to miss things my dearest bunny. I saw the specialist Thursday when she personally read my GI barium studies and conducted my ultrasound. On this department anyway, clean bill of health. No adhesions, no blockages, mail moving.

So - what are they doing re further investigation?

To whom, or what, are they referring you?

Does she have any idea what is happening and why?

What did she say, except you dont't have a blockage or adhesions?

basically it's up to my regular doc to decide where to look now and to try and treat the symptoms so maybe I can get along with my life. I'm seeing him Monday.

Tell 'im we A2kayers know what kind of car he drives, where his kids go to school and what route his wife takes to the hairdresser's every week. And mention gusratzenhofer's name. And Kickycan's. (Save Merry Andrew's name for in case he doesn't smarten up. Don't shoot all the big guns all at once.)

If the doc doesn't order a CBC, complete chem profile, hepatitis profile and urinalysis, ask for them.

The CBC will show if you are losing blood internally causing generalized weakness from anemia. It will also give you a white blood count to see if you have an infection. The chem profile will tell you if your kidneys, liver, pancreas and other organs are functioning properly, did you receive any blood during your previous surgery or get any tattoos or piercings in the past 4 months? If not, you can skip the hepatitis profile, otherwise you should have it. The urinalysis will see what kinds of crap your body is trying to secrete. The hepatitis profile might be pricey, the rest of them shouldn't be too high.

Oh, and just in case they can draw them in the office, if you're appt is in the morning you should go fasting so that the cholesterol and blood sugar are accurate. If the appt is in the afternoon eat breakfast, go easy on lunch, don't have anything with sugar at least 4 hours before any blood work.

Good luck!

I've corrected my previous post to indicate the WBC count is a measure of infection, not anemia.

Ah, so you've got some lab results. If the blood sugar wasn't fasting, then an elevated glucose doesn't mean anything. Slight anemia can still indicate a slow leak from your prior surgery. A bleeding ulcer would have been identified during your GI series, so that's not it.

Ask him what your hematocrit and hemoglobin levels were, also your RBC count and your red cell indices. Also ask if there were any nucleated red blood cells identified or if a reticulocyte count was ordered. They would indicate you're pushing immature red cells out into your circulation because your body is trying to continuously replenish lost blood. It wouldn't hurt to get your H&H rechecked to see if they've changed from last week.

edited to add reticulocyte count

Well jeez, how frustrating! Here you are sick as hell & the most advanced medical community in the world is sorta sitting around scratching their heads.

Clearly your body is trying to heal itself with sleep. May as well let it, and hibernate til these folk figure something out.

Hugs to Bear & Squinney.

* Unusually light colored stool
* Unexplained fatigue that persists for weeks or months
* Flu-like symptoms such as fever, loss of appetite, nausea, and vomiting
* Abdominal pain

Or Hepatitis C:

Quote:

* Constant tiredness (fatigue)
* Sore muscles
* Headache
* Widespread abdominal discomfort or discomfort that is concentrated in the upper right quadrant of the abdomen
* Nausea
* Dark urine or light (clay-colored) stools
* Loss of appetite or weight loss
