Hi, first post here!
Can anyone help please? I just picked up these beautiful London pictures which were advertised as Antique London Art.
I am not looking to sell so price does not bother me, they only cost me £12.99 for the 6. They each have a titled location on it and the artists name JC Maggs.
Is there anybody that knows anything about these? How old they are maybe? The owner of the charity shop said she had been trying to research them before selling them but without pulling them apart she couldn't find anything more.
Any help would be appreciate. Bottle of bleach is to show how big these are.
Thanks in advance.
First of all try google.
If they are of any note they will have had an exhibition.
I've not clicked on your images, but I did google "JC Maggs artist" and got some results.
There is a site that has some estimations, but finding out how much something went for at auction is another matter entirely.
There are organisations you can join where you can find such information out, but the fees are exorbitant, thousands of pounds.
So it's only worth it if you're in the business.
I picked up an exhibited artist at a car boot for a fiver and found another painting by her on ebay, it was a few hundred quid but it had been listed for over a year with no buyers.
At the end of the day something is only worgh what someone is prepared to pay for it, and that information is jealously guarded.
Estimations are just that, and that's the best you can get.
