Hi,
I'm trying to help a relative who wants to have the file name, or similar, appear with their pictures in the slideshow view of the Picture and Fax viewer that comes with Windows XP Home Edition. The Help option does describe a toolbar for adding text/annotion but I cannot fathom how to access this toolbar.
The toolbar that I, and said relative, sees contains only the view options. From the help pages and a webpage (http://www.message.umich.edu/webmail/spSystem/Static/help/opening_a_fax_message.htm) I can see that there are also edit options. Unfortunately I cannot see how to get these to appear.
Is this a Windows XP Home vs Professional issue?
Can you help?
Obviously I could suggest an alternative tool, but said relative is very new to the world of computers and I'd like to try and keep things as simple, if possible.
Thanks,
Simon
I have found out what's going on. The Picture and Fax Viewer gives additional options for TIFF files only.
So, my solution for my relative is to either get them to try and create their files as TIFF (if their camera allows) or to suggest an alternative tool. I don't think it is worth explaining to them how to convert to TIFF and then use the Viewer, when I can simply explain an alternative product that can create slideshows for multi-format files.
FYI - I have been recommendeda freeware viewer called IrfanView, and so far this appears simple and effective. If anyone else is interested see
