@edgarblythe,
Hmm. I like him, hope for the best but fame is such a fleeting thing. Perhaps Rogers staying put in GB (and the new phenoms) is a challenge he can’t resist?

@Region Philbis,
I find stunts like this somewhat irritating. Maybe his family got sick of him?

@edgarblythe,
Same here. Retiring is an extremely personal decision for any athlete.

Me, too. Attention-seeking. Who cares, anyway?

@Mame,
With the current situation with Ukraine and Russia in a life-and-death struggle it hardly moves the needle

Family issues. Watch for a divorce announcement. His first love is football.

Apparently an unknown fan paid around $500,000 for the last ball he kicked.

That may not have been the wisest of investments.

A really bad investment seeing that Brady does not kick - he throws.

@Linkat,
That just shows how much I know about gridiron.

It was the ball from the last match he played in.

I figured you were not thinking American football - also they are not matches like in soccer (aka football everywhere else).

@Linkat,
In the 80s there was a fad for Ametican Football on Channel 4, it lasted about two or three years. The rules seem very complicated, someone once tried explaining them to me but I just lost interest half way through.

That's probably how you feel about cricket, there's a lot of rules in that too.

American football seems more like Fugby than anything else. They mostly carry the ball in that too, but they're only allowed to throw back, never up the pitch, but they kick it a lot too. I just assumed there was kicking in American football too.

Soccer is short for Association Football, and it's success lies in having very simple rules and cheap equipment. All you need is a football, jumpers for goalposts and all that. That's why kids in the third world play it, they couldn't afford to play American Football.

@Region Philbis,
Like I said the rules are complicated.
