MS Word 2003, Win2000 Pro
I usually use the 'Print Layout' by default, - NOT 'Print Preview'.
Lately I've noticed that while in this mode, my 'Header and Footer' doesn't show up and all of my work 'hugs' the top of the document. If I do a 'Print Preview' everything looks fine and prints fine also.
The way I get around this is to go to the 'View' Menu, then select the 'Header and Footer' from the menu. This then highlights the header. I then click on the document outside to the Header and 'WA-LA' everything is as it used to be, with the Headers being there and my Text appearing on the page where they actually are.
How do I get the view back so that everything appears in the 'Print View' mode.
Thanks in advance,
craigr
Your question is unclear to me. What exactly are you trying to "get back"?

I want the 'Print View' to show the Headers when I initially open a file in MS Word.

Print Preview is the non-editable 'view' of your document - it isn't really that useful for formating headers and footers so much as making sure that the finished product doesn't look like crap.
If you are using 'Normal' view you won't see them anyway - stick to 'Print Layout' to get a better idea of the relationship of the text to blank space. The only serious advice I can give you is to use the format 'Font' to change the headers and footers to a shading (40 or 50%) and use 'Format Paragraph' to increase the width of the lines to 110-125% of normal. It makes the print much more attractive and easier to read.
Hola, Craven!!!
Found it
'Tools' / 'Options' / 'View' tab - 'White space between pages (Print view only) must be checked.
Hard telling how I 'unchecked' it. I don't remember being in there.
Thanks anyway,

It's OK, Homer! Glad to help!
You ALWAYS have to think like the guy who is going to read it! What is too many words? What is a good font? What is the better, 11 or 12 pts?
If the people who read something actually KNEW how much effort went into making it legible, they would not freakin' believe it!!
