Can't delete a photo from Timeline folder

I have a photo in my Timeline folder that shouldn't be there but there is no option to delete it. All the other pics in the folder have the 'pen' icon in the top right of the thumbnail which brings up a list of options, one being delete. The pic I want to get rid of however only has an icon with three vertical dots and when I click on that the only option available is to 'Edit Date'. To be honest I have no idea how that particular photo got into the Timeline folder in the first place but does anyone know what I have to do to delete it?

You can only delete photos that you've uploaded to Facebook. Keep in mind that once a photo is deleted, you won't be able to get it back.
To remove your photo from Facebook:
Go to the photo you'd like to delete.
Click the photo to open it.
Click and select Delete Photo.
Click Delete to confirm

Also:

Note: If you want someone else's photo removed from Facebook, ask the person who posted it to take it down. You can also remove a tag from a photo you're tagged in.
