A friend of mine is offering to load my new powerbook mac g4 with some video editing software, including final cut pro and photoshop, as long as i don't register the product. is this kosher? i am all for receiving the gift, i just don't want to put myself in any situation to get in trouble. any honest, nonjudgemental, and optimistic advice available?
Since you already know that it is pirated software, you should also know that it is not kosher.
Well, it's fully licensed to my friend. He just offered to load it on my computer. So, i may be incorrect in using the word 'pirated.' Would it be considered pirated if i use it on my system?
Yes, unless he does not use it on his system.
What you are proposing to do is certainly illegal. Are you asking us to reassure you that you won't get caught?
Lots of people do it. Will you get caught? Probably not. But what it does is drive up the price. Morally, if it feels wrong it probably is. You obviously feel badly about doing it so my suggestion is go with your gut and buy your own software.
I didn't know it was illegal. Yes, it does feel weird accepting the software, so I'll go out and buy my own. Thanks!
Good for you MistaPoo. :-)
