LOL yes indeed the English units unlike the metric system is a mess indeed but the US is still using it widely indeed,

We once lost a few hundreds millions space probe due to the hardware people was using the English system and those designing the nav. system was using the metric system resulting in a hole in the Mars surface.

@izzythepush,
You're right. We don't have too many homicides in Canada.

https://www150.statcan.gc.ca/t1/tbl1/en/tv.action?pid=3510006901

So slightly more shootings than stabbings, many of which are gang-related.

Oh. For some reason I didn’t know you were in Canada. Maybe it’s more feasible to have never seen a gun there.

@BillRM,
You still have not shown any understanding of what I said.

You go off on a tangent and still talk gibberish.

We have a thing over here called the English Language, you should try it some day.

@izzythepush,
LOL sorry as the man was very clearly confused for some reason between feet and feet per second.

4o thousands feet per second and the height of 40 thousand feet are not one and the same thing!!!!!

40 thousands feet per second is 27 thousands mile an hour a very fast jet indeed LOL.

@BillRM,
Your initial question was incoherent.

When I pointed that out you didn’t understand, and instead of writing a coherent question you went off on a tangent.

Try grasping the nettle and rephrasing the sentence which is what any Norma person would have done.

Instead of lolling and lording like some latter day follower of John Wycliffe have a word with the person looking after you and see if they can explain basic English.

If we only count shootings in the US as “mass” shootings when four or more people were injured or killed, in the 146 days of 2021 so far there have been well over 200 mass shootings.

We’re number one! We’re number one’ USA! USA!!

@snood,
Only if it’s in the same place, if he shoots three, drives a few miles and shoots another three it doesn’t count.

Presumably he could keep going as long as he only shoots three at a time. I don’t think there’s an upper limit.

@snood,
Sweden is the only European country where fatal shootings have risen significantly since 2000, leaping from one of the lowest rates of gun violence on the continent to one of the highest in less than a decade, a report has found.

To compare the numbers: last year Sweden, a country of 10.3 million people, recorded more than 360 incidents involving guns, including 47 deaths and 117 people injured.

Gun homicide in Sweden and other European countries (English summary of report 2021:8)
Quote:
Viewed from a long-term perspective, it is well-established that, at least in Western Europe, homicide levels increased during the period 1960-1990 and have since declined. In Sweden, however, this downward trend has stalled, and since 2013 levels of homicide have once again been on the rise. This study compares recent trends in Sweden with homicide levels and trends in 22 other European countries with a focus on the period since the year 2000.

Would it make you feel any better if they were killed with knives instead?

Notice how no one is able to address the point that "murder victims are just as dead no matter what kind of weapon is used to kill them"?

Pretty much the only people who have guns are farmers/ranchers for vermin or bears, hunters, and people authorized to wear one.

I don't know anyone who has a gun. We had 263 gun deaths in 2019. And I think 214 stabbings. We had a total of 678 homicides that year.

Most of us are scared of weapons! lol

@Mame,
We’ve had about the same number of shootings in 146 days of 2021 as Canada had all year in 2019.

We’re number one!!
