[answered] Sluggish, unresponsive A2K links?

I'd like to know if this is simply a problem with my computer or if others are having the same experience:

Lately, at times, A2K links seem to be sluggish, unresponsive. For example, I just had to hit the FORUMS link about 5 times to get any response. Ditto with NEW POSTS & the "next" links to a number of threads. Also connecting from email updates. This is happening a lot lately.

If it's not an A2K problem, any suggestions of what it could be & how to fix it? It's really frustrating. Mad

Thanks,
Olga

msolga- I am having the same problem, from time to time. I think that the hamsters have not eaten their "Wheaties"! Laughing

Seems to happen more now. Too much traffic?

Intrepid- Yes, I think so. I know that Craven has gotten larger and larger servers as A2K has expanded, but now the forum is bursting at the seams. Apparently, the times of greatest activity is when the site becomes sluggish.

Actually, the amount of traffic hasn't made much difference, really. I was experiencing difficulty earlier when there were very few A2Kers & visitors here. Something like 5 am, "A2K time".

I've run into the same thing from time to time, and like msolga, I can't identify it with heavy traffic times.

I've noticed the sluggishness. I'm doing jigsaws while I wait.

It seems fractionally less sluggish right now. But then, I'm A2King earlier than usual (Around 5:30 EST). Fingers crossed that things become a little faster & more predictable. Very Happy

I spoke too soon. I've been unable to access A2K at all for about the last 5 minutes. Server not responding, apparently.

The server is being worked on (this is relevant only to the current server issues, not the earlier ones).

I have a brand new mac computer, just bought it this 1/05, and I'm having the same problems only in this forum. It works fast in the other places. The problem has to be here. How old is this forum, and would that have something to do with it? I know that this forum has many members, but they don't all use the forum at the same time. Hmmm Some of the advertising are animated sometimes, can that be it? It seem like there is a great use of power somewhere. Why won't the administrators say something?

Another thing is, maybe the extra power used comes from the images that we post, could this be it???

The current latency is due to issues above our servers. The datacenter is doing harware replacements.

The maintenance window ends in about 2 hours but the site should be available most of that time.
