Me too. I haven't tried deleting all cookies. Would that work?

Hm, I only know how it works with Apple computers -
emptying caches, history, and restarting the browser.

I also have a tool called "cocktail" that does eliminate
all the unnecessary files and caches.

Do you mean using the Google search bar? If you click on the Google bar down arrow, you can choose "clear search history" this will clear the Google Bar history.

Someone mentioned deleting all cookies. Some cookies are necessary and you will lose the info for them if you delete indiscriminateley.

I think this is "saved form information".

You should be able to clear in Firefox by choosing Edit:Prefrences:Privacy

Then press the "Clear" button next to "Saved form information"

I am pretty sure this will work. I didn't want to try this on my syste.

EBrown - I followed your suggestion, but also cleared "History", "Cookies", and "Cache". The drop down options from google went bye-bye. But, I also lost the drop down list on my browser for sites I'd visited.

Neat trick.

Just out of curiosity....

What terms on your search lists need to be hidden so urgently?

Inquiring minds want to know.

K,

My understanding is that Deleting History gets rid of the addresses for sites you visited, and forms get rid off all form information including Google.

If you have been looking at things you really need to hide... getting rid of all three is a good start, although you would probably still leave a trail that someone could find if they knew where to look.

True privacy is remarkably hard to get on a computer... especially under Microsoft.

I looked at the google down bar, and i saw no options for deleting history?

I have no urgencies, just always wondered if this was possible..

Deleting cookies doesnt work, but as someone said , some cookies are necessary ( saved passwords, acces to certain sites etc.. )
If you take the time to read them all , and recognize where they are coming from, you can selectively delete what you dont need.

* If you want to access a site without typing in all the information again.
i.e. online banking, password sites, auto login to A2K, etc.

Cru - necessary if you want to return and not have to plug in your info....? Maybe? When you wipe history, you need to resign in to any of your favored sites, like hotmail, a2k, etc.
