The "Terribleness"
of the Sword of God
Giving insight is not easy when one is limited to words,
For how can the work of God be contained to nouns, adjectives and verbs?
No matter how often used or logically arranged,
The one struck by His sword, is oft' viewed as deranged.
Sometimes called the "Fool of God;" most judged by what has been.
Fearless souls experience "Wisdom justified of her children."
The soul and all inner thoughts are overcome by an unseen force;
The simple and most complex intertwine with eternity's true course.
Its "terribleness" is overwhelming unto the guilty soul,
For the pressure of cutting sins into, is its primary goal.
No sin is left within, nor can it ever be,
Near unto God's throne, anywhere one may be.
Torturous mental pain as the once-convinced soul cannot let go,
Of this lying, former teacher within the mortal soul.
What accounts is a true war within, betwixt heaven and hell.
Courage trusting in God's two-edged sword - the victor is certainly not hell.
Torturous twists and turns, as sins one by one are dispelled,
Lifting the soul ever upwards, away from the gates of hell.
Inner torment is humankind's legacy but not intended by God's power,
Only those who refuse God within, will be denied in "that hour."
What we choose and WHOM we choose, each and every day,
Persuades a non-courageous soul, from God, to turn away.
Leading unto following God's instructions as He speaks;
Beside you, ever fighting for you is that which He seeks.
?'Til all that remains with the soul in this inner war,
Are God and your true self - for to part - never more.
The war is over, the battle won. You may think, "Where did the years go?"
And God's two-edged sword is regarded "Hallowed" by the lowly soul.
The war's remembrance and its reality is the forefront of true wisdom,
And waits for those who hear Him say within the soul, "Come."
Except for the familiar strangers that you once knew within,
Are cast away forever freeing the soul from sin.
No other harm is done to the soul that God decides to love,
For His parental corrections - His "Two-edged sword" - precedes a heavenly dove.
With peace profound and joy unmatched, only a damned fool would return
Unto the past with familiar sins knowing its end would be to burn.
So you see, this "Terribleness" that I ineptly speak of
Cannot begin to show God's power and the reality of His love.
Is God's sword then, so "Terrible" as described?
Oh yes - and no - you make the choice - as for me - I have not lied.
